Vogue Around the World

Ever since I was little I have been fascinated by what lies behind the pages of Vogue.  I become captured by the photos, looks, stories and even culture behind Vogue.  As I am planning to apply to jobs for September (one last summer spent working at the shore and traveling of course...) I find myself diverging from the applications and exploring more and more about the faces behind the companies I dream to work for.  I am excited to post more about the who, what, where and whens of the fashion world as I believe this is vital for anyone that wants to enter the fashion world.  Since I want to enter the fashion PR world I will be focusing more on fashion PR agencies and idols.  However, to kick off some WHO WHAT WEAR WHENs in fashion PR it seemed only right to start with the one and only VOGUE.

Vogue is an American fashion and lifestyle magazine that is published monthly in 21 national and regional editions by Conde Nast.  Vogue was founded in 1892 and is located at 4 Times Square in NYC.

Anna Wintour

The current editor-in-chief of American Vogue is Anna Wintour, noted for her trademark bob and sunglasses.  Since taking over in 1988, Wintour has worked to protect the magazine's high status and reputation among fashion publications.  To do so, the magazine became a pedestal focusing on new and accessible concepts of "fashion" for a wider audience.  Wintour's presence at fashion shows is often taken by fashion insiders as an indicator of the designer's profile within the industry.  In 2003 she joined the Council of Fashion Designers of America in creating a fund that provides money and guidance to at least two emerging designers each year.

Megan Salt

Wintour replaced Patrick O'Connel with Megan Salt (right) in 2010 as Vogue's PR Director. Megan Salt used to work in events and masterminded the first incarnation of Fashion's Night Out. Salt used to work at HL group previous to Vogue and basically I want to be her!!!

Alexandra Shulman

The editor of the British edition of Vogue.  She is one of the country's most oft-quoted voices on fashion trends.  She took the helm of Vogue in 1992, presiding over a circulation increase to 200,000 and higher profile for the publications.  She previously wrote for the The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail.

Emmanuelle Alt

Editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris since February 2011, succeeding Carine Roitfeld.  Alt had been the fashion director of the magazine since 2000.

Franca Sozzani

Editor-in-chief at Vogue Italia since 1988 and is only the second EIC of Vogue Italia.  She is also considered to be one of the five most influential people in the fashion industry worldwide.

Yolanda Sacristán
Editor-in-chief at Vogue Espana

There are several different departments to work for at Vogue.  Print, marketing, advertising, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, finance, press, editorial and more.  To check out jobs go to Conde Nast Careers.
